The Norwegian Cooperative Centre
The Norwegian Cooperative Centre was set up 1 January 2008 as a centre for information, documentation and advice. We advise on co-operatives as a business model, and we give information about the scope and importance of co-operatives in Norway as well as in an international context. Our activities are courses, conferences, printed information material and information by our web-site. Our award, "Co-operative of the Year" has been established to create interest in co-operatives as a business model and to promote the forming of new co-operatives.
Our founders are all the main co-operative organizations in Norway - Coop Norway SA (consumer), the Federation of Norwegian Agricultural Co-operatives (FNAC), the Norwegian Federation of Co-operative Housing Associations (NBBL), the Norwegian Fishermen's Sales Organization, Gjensidige Insurance, Landkreditt (credit union and banking) and the Royal Norwegian Society for Development.
Since the foundation, seven new member organizations have joined us: KLP (mutual insurance company), Garanti Eiendomsmegling (a cooperative chain of real estate agents), Norwegian Fishermen's Sales Organization for Pelagic Fish, Bygdeservice Norge ("Rural Services Norway"), ULOBA BA (cooperative of disabled persons with personal assistants), Oslo Taxi BA, Skogbrand Forsikringsselskap Gjensidig (mutual insurance company in forestry) and Inn på Tunet Trøndelag BA .
