Cooperatives in Agriculture
The Federation of Norwegian Agricultural Co-operatives (FNAC) is the professional organization and meeting place for agricultural co-operatives, owned by 50 000 farmers throughout the country.
The main objectives of the agricultural cooperatives are to provide channels for processing and marketing of agricultural produce, and to provide good conditions for access to capital and input items to the production on each farm.
The 16 nationwide agricultural cooperatives are divided into the categories marketing, purchasing, finance, insurance, breeding and advisory services.
The agricultural cooperatives have more than 50 000 members, about 17 000 employees and the total annual turnover is over 71 billion NOK.
The agricultural co-operatives are owners of some of the most well-known brands like TINE (dairy products), Gilde (red meat products), Prior (eggs and poultry).
